New Valve Guide Level is in the works!

Why we are making these.

First of all, it will give us more control on availability if we make it in house.

Secondly, the current levels we sell are ALL aluminum. The new level will be a more durable because the part that fits onto the pilot will be hardened steel.

Lastly, the current levels available can only be calibrated to be level (which has nothing to do with matching it to the centerline of your spindle). You've probably leveled your machine by putting a machinist level on the base where the cradle sits (thats great for making sure the cradle floats without pulling one way or another). That does not mean the spindle is perfectly aligned (especially if someone has removed the column and  head of the machine to transport it, which happens quite a bit).

A little theory behind using a valve guide level.

When setting up a head in a seat and guide machine, you are trying to match up the centerline of the valve guide with the centerline of the spindle. This new level design will allow you to chuck up a pilot in your spindle and slide the level up onto the pilot to make sure the level actually matches the spindle centerline. The current levels we sell are sourced out and there is no way to check the calibration between the level and the centerline of the spindle. Your basically  just assuming if your machine base is level that your spindle is also perfectly true. In a perfect world that all works out but as these machines age, get moved around, and get taken apart and put back together its simply not the case. They have wear, warp, or or have been taken apart and put back together.

With this new level design, you will KNOW you are aligned to the spindle centerline.
